We now have a vacancy in our Leeds office for a Solicitor to work with our clients to understand what they need and to deliver the right resolution, providing an effortless journey throughout.

Role Purpose

  • We are looking for Family Solicitor to expand our growing team.  The successful candidate will be responsible for both fee earning and business development.
  • Market and develop the Simpson Millar Family department  
  • Develop and manage a caseload of privately funded divorce, finance and children
  • Effectively and efficiently conduct cases on behalf of clients in accordance with the overall policies and objectives of the firm;
  • Developing local business to secure referrals;
  • Participation in the development, marketing and success of the Family Department, to include developing the website business;
  • Develop referrals from other established Partners who already refer to Simpson Millar;
  • Detailed knowledge of  Family work, including procedural, advocacy and practical skills
  • To conduct a high volume caseload of matters on behalf of clients as directed and in accordance with the Firm’s file management and supervisory policy;
  • To maintain a diary and bring up entries in accordance with the firm procedures;
  • To work with a case management system, databases and normal office IT systems;
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant forms and procedures;
  • Compliance with the firms Money Laundering Procedures;
  • Compliance with the Data Protection Act.

Person Specification:

The successful candidate will have:-

Essential:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ post qualification experience of running a Family caseload mainly focused on divorce, finance and some private children work as a solicitor;
  • Interest and experience in conducting advocacy;
  • Knowledge of private funding;
  • A good understanding of the FPR and CPR to the extent that they are relevant to family cases;
  • Interest in and ability to develop links with potential referral organisations;
  • Good business development skills;
  • Good marketing skills;
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Family work;
  • Excellent IT skills;
  • Good knowledge and understanding of procedures and protocol;
  • Good practical skills, including proven negotiation skills;
  • Good personal organisation and ability to adhere to strict time limits;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • The ability to deal with individuals from all walks of life;
  • The ability to prioritise work when necessary;
  • The ability to provide the highest standards of client care;
